What is The Operational Period Briefing
There are two types of operational plans. A single-use plan is developed to carry out a course of action not likely to be repeated in the future. An ongoing or standing plan is developed for activities that recur regularly over a period of time.
A Planning Section Chief generally facilitates the operational period briefing.

Pre-operational period
Operations Section Chief: The Section Chief is responsible to Incident Command for the direct management of all incident-related tactical activities. The Operations Section Chief will establish tactics for the assigned operational period. An Operations Section Chief should be designated for each operational period, and responsibilities include direct involvement in development of the Incident Action Plan.
Presents the Incident Action Plan (IAP) for the upcoming period to supervisory personnel.
