In most fungi the zygotes is the only cell in the entire lifecycle that is diploid. The next stage is the vision of this zygote, by way of meiosis, is the formation of spores. The spores form a mycelium and can continue to grow this way asexually or the mycelium can form gametes. These gametes begin the zygote process again.
