The results will be inaccurate due to the escape of heat. As the heat is created from the burning of the substance, it instead of being contained and measured (by the thermometer) some of that heat will escape through the hole in the lid, which will negatively impact the results.

Why is nitrous oxide dangerous?

If you take too much nitrous oxide you risk falling unconscious and/or suffocating from the lack of oxygen. People have died this way. Dizziness, which might make you act carelessly or dangerously. Heavy regular use of nitrous oxide can lead to a deficiency of vitamin B12 and to a form of anaemia.

Why are explosive bad?

Explosives are neither good nor bad, they simply ARE. Each day in the US we use about 5 MILLION pounds of explosives for good purposes- mining, construction, demolition, etc. However, explosives are concentrated energy (about 1 million horsepower in one stick of dynamite). Used for bad purposes, used carelessly, or used by someone without the training and knowledge to use them safely, explosives can damage property and hurt or kill people.

Why is rainwater getting less acidic?

Rainwater is not actually getting less acidic. it is actually getting more acidic! the more greenhouse gases we use (e.g: carbon dioxide) the more acidic our rain gets! This occurs because the more fossil fuels and greenhouse gases get thrown carelessly into the oceans, lakes and rivers; the more acidic they get. This means that when the water evaporates into the air, it is more acidic then it's usual neutral (7 on the pH scale). This is also affecting global warming and killing the sea animals by taking all the oxygen from the water and replacing it with harmful substances.

What are the practical differences between Lithium batteries and Lithium-ion batteries and is one or the other an eco-hazard?

The biggest differences are that lithium batteries contain lithium metal and are not rechargeable. Lithium ion batteries, however, do not contain lithium metal and can be recharged. The small lithium and lithium ion batteries that are provided an exception to dangerous goods/hazardous materials regulations are used primarily in consumer applications. Small lithium batteries are often used in cameras and watches. Lithium ion batteries are commonly found in cellular phones and laptop computers.Batteries does not have any eco-hazard as long as it is not carelessly dumped with general waste. It can only pose threat to environment as it contains metals like.. lithium, nickel, chromium, iron, etc. and which can leach to groudwater and contaminate soil if not disposed off responsibly.

Are concrete panels toxic?

Not unless you plan on eating them. They don't give off toxic gasses or anything. The dust from cutting or grinding them could cause silicosis if the dust was inhaled, but that's about it. The washing process in the manufacture of concrete panels leaves a myriad of heavy metals such as mercury plus other poisons such as arsenic in residual waste and these contents can cause considerable health hazards if they are carelessly disposed of. The process of manufacturing cement has added to air poluution and water pollution. While it seems that proper disposal and safe manufacturing principles can eliminate many of the problems above mentioned, researchers have used rats to aascertain if there is anything dangerous. In the testing several different materials were used to house the rats. For several weeks no effects were observed, however, after several months, rats who were living in the cement and concrete structures began to develop symptoms of toxicity, from loss of weight, loss of hair, loss of kidney function and this shows that there are genuine issues which should not be taken lightly. Silicosis is a lung disease caused bynsilica, quartz or slate inhalement and even cat litter has a ban on using these substances. The manufacturing process varies greatly from compnay to company and country to country. As do the environmental standards.
