Leaking from where on the battery, the caps? If so the charging system may be over charging the battery and causing the acid to boil out. Could be a voltage regulator problem.
Yuor battery is leaking fluids or gases. The battery likely needs replaced.
An auto battery could be leaking for a couple of reasons. The alternator could be overcharging the battery causing the leakage. Or the battery itself could have a short or other internal problem causing it to leak when charging.
Is it new? if it is it's not the battery. If it's really old your battery most likely is leaking.

Not necessarily. Any battery, even a good one, will slowly loose it's charge. Could be that something drained the battery. Clean the battery case and the posts. Slow charge the battery until it is full and then use it. You will soon know if it is good or not.

Anytime you run an automobile battery down you shorten the life of that battery. An acid leak in a sealed battery means the battery must be replaced. If it is leaking from a battery in a battery with filler caps just add distilled water to the full mark and wash the acid off the vehicle battery compartment.
