Prices can vary but I think around $3000
Yes mesh is the most expensive because in a mesh environment, a cable runs from every computer to every other computer. If you have four computers , you must have six cables three coming from each computer to the other computers.
A switch, UTP straight through cables,Lan Card
False
NO, but it does affect your Internet connection if you have one.
Yes you acn use a hub to connect your computers. Just connect a cat5 network cable from each of your computers to the hub. It doesn't matter which port you plug the cat5 cable into on the hub. they are all the same. Also, if you might be interested in making your own cat5 cables. I have added a link on how to do ths.
There are three types of cables used in paired connection of computers: crossover, straight-through, and rollover. Crossover cables are used to connect two devices directly, without a router or switch in between. Straight-through cables are typically used to connect a computer to a router or switch, while rollover cables are typically used to connect a modem to a router or switch.
A network is ANY connection of computers or other devices.Companies can have company-spanning networks; similarly, you can connect two or more computers at your home. A while ago, such networks were normally NOT connected to the Internet; the networks were set up to share resources such as printers, file servers, etc. Even today, every company and home that connects computers has its own network - thus, the Internet can be considered as a "network of networks", i.e., smaller networks, connected into a larger one. Often, the boundary between one network and another one is considered to be the router or equivalent device. Thus, the ADSL device I use at home, to connect to the Internet, connects three different networks: * An Ethernet network (which uses cables) * A Wi-Fi network (the wireless network) * The ADSL network (the connection to the ISP).
One Answer:It is possible to connect two computers without using a hub by using a switch instead. A switch is better than a hub because it creates a collision domain (CD) and stops them from happening when two devices try and send frames at the same time. Rather than buying a cross-over cable to connect two computers together, you can use two straight-through cables (your average, everyday network cable) and connect them to a switch. This also allows for growth where you can add more computers to the switch if the network grows.Another Answer:With Ethernet, you can use a crossover cable to connect two computers without using a hub, switch, or existing network. Crossover cables are Ethernet cables that have the send and receive wires (pins) switched along the length of the cable. The pins that send information from one computer are connected to the pins that receive information for the second computer. You can use a regular cable if they are modern computers.
Optacal fiber cables are the fastest network cables in which the signals are transmiited nearly at the speed of light. they are very expesive because they are made of fiber glasses.
A LAN network adapter, a LAN cable and a switch or hub.
There are many types of built in wireless network connections. For example, lots of phones and computers come with Bluetooth.
This depends on the computers you're using and the speed of the internet network. Generally, three or four different computers can be easily hooked up.
