why wont my ABS light go out
You have to fix the cause of the code that is set in the ABS module.
The ABS light is on because there is a problem with the ABS. The light won't go out until the problem is fixed. As long as the ABS light is on the ABS will not function.

Bring to a shop that has an ABS scanner to determine the problem My answer: It is most likely a bad wheel bearing. Front is tricky to replace, rear is not so bad. If you go to AutoZone they can scan it for you, but you will get an answer you will probably already know.

You can pull the relay and/or fuse out and the light will go off. It will also disengage a faulty abs system.
my 96 lincolntown car wont go in gear and the abs system light comes on
The abs light flickering on and off is caused by a problem in the abs system. Check the computer coeds to see if a problem shows. Check the abs sensors at each wheel.
You need the have the abs codes checked. You can then diagnose and repair the cause.
Fix the deficiency. The light will go out on its own after you get up to 15 MPH once you've corrected the problem.
Traction control system. If you have that and a abs light, you probably have a wheel sensor out or if you have that, brakes, abs all lite up... and it rained last night, you probably have a short on that sensor from the rain. Either way, get it checked out. TCS is only important if you need to stop... or turn... or go faster than 5mph...
