tragedy
Aristotle was Alexander's tutor; his favorite story according to most sources was Homer's the Illiad.
According to Aristotle, in a tragedy the focus should be on the actions of the characters rather than the story itself. He believed that the events in a tragedy should unfold through the actions of the characters, leading to a cathartic experience for the audience. Ultimately, it is the choices and decisions made by the characters that drive the tragic events in the story.
The plot is just what happens in the story. Tell someone what happened in the story and you have the plot. Aristotle says that plot is "the arrangement of the incidents" according to cause and effect.
According to Aristotle, the tragic hero's flaw, or hamartia, is typically a result of their own actions or decisions. This flaw often leads to their downfall or ultimate demise in a tragic story.
Aristotle defines plot as "the arrangement of the incidents [action, episodes, scenes] according to cause and effect."
