What is the tough connective tissue that ties the gastronomic muscle to the calcaneous muscle?

The gastrocnemius muscle is located in the posterior, or back part of the lower leg. The calcaneal tendon, more commonly known as the Achilles Tendon, is what connects the gastrocnemius muscle to the calcaneus bone.

Where is the Achilles tendo located?

Achilles Tendon is located at the back of the ankle. The tough rope like tendon that joins the heel and the calf muscle is achilles tendon.

What is the tendon attached to the heel and calf called?

There are many muscles that attach to the calcaneus, but the two biggest ones are the gastrocnemius and soleus. These two muscles attach to the calcaneus, via the achilles tendon. The other muscles are: the foot intrinsic muscles, so they begin and end only in the foot, and the plantaris, which attaches to the femur, and travels down to the calcaneus.

Where is the Gastrocnemus muscle located?

The gastrocnemius muscle is between the back of your knee and your heel.

What is a special test for Achilles tendon?

One special test for Achilles tendon is the Thompson test. In this test, the patient lies prone and the examiner squeezes the calf muscle. If the Achilles tendon is intact, the foot will plantar flex; if there is an Achilles tendon rupture, the foot will not move. This test helps to determine the presence or absence of an Achilles tendon injury.

What type of muscle tissue found attached to bones?

Ligaments attach bone to bone (think patella to femur) and tendons attach muscles to bone (think Achilles tendon).

What is the nome of the largest tendon and where is it?

The largest and thickest tendon in the human body is the Achilles tendon. This tendon is located at the back of the ankle and connects the calf muscle to the actual bone of the heel.
