Achilles Tendon
Gastrocnemius...the calf.
The calf muscle on the back of your tibia and fibula bones, along with a few small ones in your foot itself that I'm not sure of the name.Your shin flexes and your calf contracts. THis works the same when pointing your foot.
The gastronemius muscle is one of the calf muscles and it plantar flexes the foot or flexes the knee.
it is lies in the posterior part of the calf,it is a flexor of the foot.
the Achilles tendon is the area on the back of ur foot, between the ball of ur foot and ur ankle. i guess maybe the calf muscle is sometimes called Achilles tendon b/c in cats and dogs, the Achilles tendon is part of the calf muscle
The gastrocnemius, the large muscle in the calf, flexes the knee and foot.
The Achilles tendon joins the castronemius muscle and Soleus muscle (These are calf muscles) to the heel bone in the back of the foot You would not be able to lift the back of your foot.
I would spell this "calf" muscle - the plural is calves, but the singular is calf (in fact, calfs is coming into common usage in agriculture.) The large muscles at the top of the calf are the gastrocmenius, the muscles that extend the foot. The soleus are the flat, broader muscles that are underneath the gastrocnemius.
For women calf muscles can become shorter if they wear heels too much. Because the foot is positioned on an incline the heel is higher than the toes. This meaning that the front leg muscle is extended because the foot is on an incline but the calf muscle in the back which is connected to the heel is squeezed together causing it to be shortened over a long period of time.
It causes flexion of the knee and plantarflexion of the foot.
I don't understand what you mean. I have gotten bad charliehorses in my calf muscle, and on the bottom of my foot. Often, muscle charliehorses result from not drinking enough water.
I recently pulled a muscle in my back (or so the ER doc told me) and I have since noticed a numb spot in the back of my left thigh. I have also noticed that my left calf muscle is very weak. I cannot even stand up on my toes with that foot.
