If you are set up with a functioning safe shooting area, radiography is very useful to the NDT field. It allows you to see cracks through layers of paint that you would otherwise have to strip off for other inspections. You can also look inside of honeycomb structures for failing, crushed and water inside of the structure. As things advance and become more sensitive, radiography in my opinion will become a great resource for any NDT lab.
If you're talking about NDI or NDT, radiography is a much longer process (developing film etc.) and a more tedious task than UT. You have to operate in a dark room, set up the x-ray tubehead.. etc. Also, radiography has a lot more risks than UT.
Who knows? Its in the future.
It will be advance.

API = American Petroluem Institute NDT = Non-destructive Testing NDT is a process of testing the integrity of a piece of pipe (oil well tubing or casing) that does not damage the material in any way. There is wide range of ways to perform NDT evaluations on tubing and casing products.

Computed radiography uses a special plate to capture images, which are then scanned into a computer. Direct radiography captures images digitally right away using sensors, making it faster with no extra scanning step.
