Advantages:
International standards organizations remove any political advantage by publishing their network protocols publicly, and usually for free.
Disadvantage:
Con: Standards take longer to ratify, often having to be amended to fit de facto conditions that were in place while standards were being made.
Pro: Hardware and software that follow standards can communicate without additional translators, ultimately saving energy and processing time, and lowering the costs of operating a network.
Advantages:
We have a standard to work on i.e we know that another person working on it wil follow what we do. Secondly as it becomes widely used, the effective usage increases...it becomes easy for people to make applications that use such protocols.
Disadvantages:
Often standards made tend to limit themselves in a way or the other. Once made it's difficut to change a standard when we have better methods found.
The advantage that is prominent in networks today is the ability use the physical components and software by most of the manufacturers together with other physical components and software by different manufacturers. These standards have given universal guidelines and rules to follow thereby ensuring that the user can purchase which ever brands he/she likes and would be able to use it in a network where devises and software from other brands are already being used.
This ensures not only the ease of access to a network by a client (client can use the physical devices and the software that he/she can gain easy access to other than waiting for a specific brand or specific manufacturer) but also the ability of interconnecting networks with ease.
what are advantages and disadvantages of harmonisation of accounting standards
Protocols are set of standards that help programmers/designers/administrators to have common set of standards for Computing & Network Devices.
Advantages: We have a standard to work on i.e we know that another person working on it wil follow what we do. Secondly as it becomes widely used, the effective usage increases...it becomes easy for people to make applications that use such protocols. §Protocols are the standards of etiquette in your place of employment
Adherence to Protocols & Standards in designing software, protocols & firmware provides compatibility & assurance of functionality (i.e. independenct of environment if properly used).
The advantages are the customer will trust you more. The disadvantages are that you will have to keep up with stringent standards.
+Repeat business due to good public image -Have to invest and retain this to keep the quality up
Advantages:more food and comfort, higher living standards, longer life expectancy, Disadvantages: exploitation of poor, pollution, loss of biodiversity, more people
Advantages are that you will get faster, more up to date equipment. Disadvantages are that you will have to spend money, products are almost old when you buy them, plus you will need to make sure there are no compatibility problems.
Advantages of bureaucratic leadership includes following a predefined set of standards or rules. This is especially helpful when completing routine tasks such as assembly line work, handling cash, and safety training. Disadvantages include hardships when implementing new procedures and workplace not being allowed to veer from standards when circumstances warrant it.
SOLAS stands for 'Safety of Life at Sea' and is an International agreement for all vessels (cargo, tanker, passenger etc.) that sets standards for safety, emegency procedures and other such protocols.
