Celsius is the temperature unit in the decimal metric system, which is always used in Science. It's easier to convert Celsius to Kelvin scale, which is often used by scientists, because a change of 1 deg C = 1 deg K, and the only difference is 273.15 deg offset between two scales.

Fahrenheit is the equivalent of an imperial measurement; as Celsius is a more modern, metric version.

Having said this, the Kelvin system of measuring temperature, is often favourable with scientists. Instead of 0 being the freezing point of water (as is the case with Celsius), 0 Kelvin represents absolute zero - therefore, 0oC = 273K.

Scientists prefer 10 significant digits, and it's much easier to remember that water freezes at 0.01 C and boils at 99.9839 C at a pressure of 101.325 kPa. For the rest of us backwoods hayseed rednecks, 0 F means the weather is freezing cold, and 100 F means the weather is a blast furnace. Since only scientists are allowed to observe and forecast weather, Celsius is far superior in every way. If you agree, then dig out that metric thermometer, ruler, scale, calendar, compass, and clock, so us rednecks can figure out our metric weight in Newtons and have to wait 10 days for the metric weekend. Git-r-done!
