Advantages and disadvantages of using cellphones?

There are many advantages and disadvantages of cell phones in today's society. While technology has made it quite convenient to practically carry around a computer in our purses or pockets, the constant desire or need to be engulfed in some form of electronic device has been said to hurt socialization. Another disadvantage of cell phones is that many studies have been conducted that show that cell phone usage could possibly heighten the risk of brain tumors due to radiation being omitted. An advantage of the cell phone is to be reachable practically anywhere in case of an emergency.

Most kids these days sneak around and use their phones in school anyways; do you think they should just allow it? In my opinion I think that it should be allowed. Not all the time, but it should be allowed in the hallways and in study halls. I understand that we shouldn't have our phones during productive classes, but I don't understand why we can't have them in the halls and in study hall. My reasoning's for this is because sometimes random emergency's come up, it doesn't hurt to have usage of it when you are not doing work, and if they're really sick all they have to do is text their parents to come get then instead of going to the office. So they should allow phones.
