Hades asked his brother Zeus if he could have Persephone for his bride, to this Zeus agreed without consulting Demeter or Persephone - Hades than took her, and Demeter showed her wrath until she got her daughter back, except Persephone had eaten of the pomegranate and had to return to Hades for half the year, this causes Demeter to make the land cold and barren (i.e. winter). Persephone return brings about spring.
he was not to look back at her until he returned out of the Underworld
Hades is Persephone's husband. Persephone was promised to Hades as his bride, by her father Zeus. But Zeus neglected to inform both Persephone and her mother Demeter of this arrangement. It was Greek tradition for the husband to claim his new bride and carry her away to live at his home.. so this is exactly what Hades did. He burst forth from the Underworld to claim Persephone; but to Persephone she had no idea what was happening and it turned into an abduction. She was horribly upset for quite some time, but I do believe she warmed up to him after a while and has come to love him as her husband.
Zeus had promised Hades his daughter Persephone as his wife, Zeus neglected to mention this to Persephone and her mother Demeter; Hades had created a flower for Persephone, and Persephone and her maiden goddess companions found it in exploring a field of flowers, Persephone plucked the flower and Hades thought this a acceptance of his love for her, and took her to his realm where he found out he had kidnapped Persephone (who in some myths isn't at all opposed to being Hades' Queen) and when Demeter ventured into the underworld Hades greeted her and said Persephone was allowed to return if she had not eaten of the food of the underworld - she had, so she spent the winter with Hades and in rest of the year with her mother; it goes differently how long exactly, but winter is the return of the sorrow of Demeter having lost her daughter.
Demeter didn't force Zeus to change his mind about Hades' and Persephone's marriage. Hades and Persephone were/are married. However Demeter was able to persuade Zeus into convincing Hades to release Persephone from the Underworld. Due to her protest in causing the earth to stop growing, stop creating life, and becoming an eternal winter. However Persephone had eaten pomegranate seeds when during her time in the Underworld, which causes Persephone to return to the Underworld for half of the year. Which causes the earth to fall back into winter again. Thus the cycles of the seasons.
Hades.
Persephone's flaws are she was, well, is the wife of Hades.
Hades is Persephone's uncle. Because Zeus is Persephone's father, and Hades is Zeus' brother.
Demeter gained from Zeus half the year with Persephone.
yup. Some later loves were minthe and leuce, who she turned into plants
Mother: Demeter Father: Zeus Uncle/Husband: Hades Uncle: Poseidon Aunts: Hera, Hestia
She struggles with having to be in the underworld with Hades when he captured her. Persephones mother stops the season in depression when she is taken. But in the end there is compromise with 6 months for Hades and 6 for her mother. All is well in the end.
well persephone ate three pomegrante seed when she was in the underworld. some people believe it was because she hadnt eaten in a stuborn fit when hades kidnapped her. i believe she ate it because she truely loved hades and didnt want to leave.
from the research, most gods are persephone's brothers and sisters. the only know not to be are posiden, zeus, hades, kronos, and choros.
Dionysus Zagreus (with Zeus, the god of lightning)Melinoe, the goddess of ghosts (with Zeus)The Erinyes, the goddesses of retribution and wrath (with Hades according to the Orphic Hymns)Makaria, the goddess of blissful death (with Hades, probably)
Persephone has to return to Hades's underground kingdom because she had a couple of pomegranate seeds to eat.
