What are the differences between low latitudes and mid-latitudes?
The climate is tropical in the low latitudes while the climate is temperate in the mid latitudes. There will be all four seasons in the mid latitudes while the low latitudes will only experience a dry and a wet season all year round. The Sun will shine overhead at low latitudes, resulting in the tropical region being very hot. However, in the mid latitudes, the Sun will shine at an angle, so that the sun rays are more spread out and heat the region up slower. Prevailing winds are very common and sometimes very strong int he mid latitudes, for example, the Roaring Forties. Tropical forests are found in the low latitudes whereas temperate forests are found in the mid latitudes.

Mid-latitude climates are characterized by?
Mid-latitude climates are characterized by more annual temperature variation than occurs in the low latitudes. The angle of the sun varies more over the year in the mid-latitudes, thus leading to greater differences in high and low temperatures. Rainfall varies over the year in both coastal and interior locations. Although the interiors of continents in the mid-latitudes generally have less rainfall than most coastal areas, relatively little of the interior is actually classified as desert, with less than 10 inches of precipitation per year.
