Any advice on clearing up a chronic ear infection in one ear of a seven year old Cocker Spaniel?

Ear infections are hard to get rid of in long eared dogs. You'll need to clean the ear with an ear cleaning fluid, using a cotton ball. Be careful not to go too far into the ear canal. You will probably need to see the vet to get the proper drops to put into the ear once it's cleaned out. You have to be consistent with the cleaning and drops or it's a lost cause. Good luck.

∙ 12y agoMy vet recently told me 2-3 drops of methylated spirits in each of the dogs ears will dry out any moisture and help kill off infection very quickly and effectively. Said he uses this rather than expensive ear drops. Maybe give this a try?

I also have a seven year old Cocker Spaniel that had chronic ear infections... however she also ended up cauliflower ear and had her ear canals removed -but i do know that Cocker Spaniels are known for having ear troubles, I can get more information about the medication we used and other information soon, I'll tell as soon as I can.
