Belt Drive
I have 2001 Mazda Tribute 4WD with 3.0 V6 and it uses timing chain, not a belt.
belt
Chain
on a 02 m8 it should have a chain and not a belt, the chain should be good for 100,000 miles
The V6 Saturn used a timing belt. The 4 cylinder's used a timing chain.
05-06 use a timing chain 02-04 use a timing belt
The first model year for the Saturn Ion was 2003. It uses a GM Ecotec engine that has a chain cam drive just like the original S series Saturns produced until 2002.
No - the serpentine belt's only job is to drive the other components like the power steering and air conditioning. There is a timing chain that handles that job. See "Related Questions" below for more about serpentine belts.
if your mondeo is a duratorq engine then it should have a camchain
my vectra is registered aug. 02 on the new shape with the 2.0 dti and have been told from the dealers that its a chain and not a belt, hope this helps Dave
When I bought my '02 I was told that it no longer has the timing belt/chain that needs to be replaced at around 60,000 miles (my '96 did have a timing belt that needed to be replaced every 60,000 miles). I have put over 80,000 mi. on my '02 and nice to know I won't be getting surprised by timing belt failure. Did have to have the serpentine belt on the engine replaced recently though.
