Yes, most Canadians are friendly. There are however, like in every other country, a few who are not, but in general the people you'd come across would be very nice.
Well you just got to know the right people. Also, stay away from big cities like Toronto. If you are in Canada's countryside and you know the right people, then you will be alright.
