'Domestic Shorthair' is a term for a cat that has no pedigree nor belongs to a recognised breed. Domestic Shorthairs can vary widely in appearance and can resemble any pedigree breed, depending on its gene pool and lineage. DSH's can also exhibit a wide range of colouring and coat patterns, the most common being a tabby pattern. These cats are also known as 'moggies'.
While pedigree breeds usually have certain personality characteristics, a Domestic Shorthair or Longhair have a wide variety of personalities. Some will be shy, while others not so. Some will happily come up to strangers while others will run and hide.
