That is a lot like asking if a person is happy, sad, or angry. It depends on the life that you give them, and what is happening to them at that moment. Overall though, a well balanced golden is a cheerful pet.

well when your pet is happy he will be all jumpy and wag its tall. when its sad he will follow you around alot and when you leave the house he will try to go with you. when he is angry he wont want to play with you.
