I have a dane/boxer mix and he is great with kids. he learned sign langauge at a young age and is now 19 months and still remembers it. He sometimes thinks he's a lapdog and is very hyper and clumsy. But i do recomend the breed.

∙ 14y agoWith supervision, absolutely. The Great Dane is one of the gentlest mannered dogs you could ever wish to own. But, and this is a BIG but: they are BIG. And that means that the slightest accidental 'bump' from these wonderful creatures can knock a toddler flying, and maybe cause injury--you must keep this in mind if you have very small children.
