Hestia is not a goddess who had need of weapons, she was concerned with the hearth fire of the community and family; a sworn virgin she was sacred even to the Greek gods and goddesses themselves. If indeed Hestia had need of a weapon, she is goddess of fire; and if she cried for help, all who heard would come to her call and the one whom threatened her would flee; such was the case in the one Roman myth where Vesta (counterpart to Hestia) was threatened by rape.
