That depends on your field of study/interest, but generally, yes. In fields of law, consulting, business and others, there are positions for which non-Ivy's are either not considered at all, or are considered second-best candedates, or are paid much less. (Check the want ads in professional publications, see how many high-end poistions demand your education be from a "stellar school.") You can get a better education in some fileds of study elsewhere, but you cannot get better opportunities in life from many other college names.
