No. They were a made up people that author Jonathon Swift used as a literary device in his book, "Gulliver's Travels" to show some of the follies and foibles of the people of his own culture.

In it, the Liliputians were divided into two rival Kingdoms, the Big Enders and the Small Enders. While the bitter rivals were always at war, and always had the worst things to say about the other, it turned out that the only real difference was that Big Enders cracked their eggs at the big end, and Small Enders cracked their eggs at the small end.

This was a veiled gibe at the races of man, who fight such bitter battles routinely over things that ultimately are just as trivial. If you think not, then realize that some of the most bitter battles of the last 1,000 years have been between those who believe that God's name is pronounced "Jehovah" versus those who believe his name is pronounced "Allah". And both those groups have spent most of history indiscriminately slaughtering a third group that believes in the same God - but pronounces it "Yahweh".
