Oh, dude, technically, Oregon Triton snails are edible, but like, I wouldn't recommend chowing down on them for your next snack. They can carry harmful toxins and parasites that could seriously ruin your day. So, like, maybe stick to something a bit safer for your culinary adventures.

There are no such things as 'escorgets' - the word does not exist/mean anything. However, the is a French word 'escargots' which means edible snails.
The animal that may create or eat conch shell in this manner is a type of marine snail called the triton snail. Triton snails are known for preying on conch snails and can consume all but the opening and both parts of the conch shell while leaving the conch alive inside.
Looking online suggests that both Chinese Mystery Snails and Banded Mystery Snails are edible. Both are invasive where I live and I recently grabbed a few to eat. A word of caution, all wild caught snails must be kept for a few days (3-8) with constant changing of their water, tap water will do, to rid them of any toxins they picked up. Feed them oatmeal, cornmeal, or lettuce to get the mud they have been previously been feeding on out of their systems.
