Depends on what you want from it. Single speed bikes are as a rule very robust, and the drivetrain components tends to last a long time. They also tend to be fairly clean-looking, with a minimum of parts cluttering up the frame. With that said, being limited to only one gear can be quite restricting if you're riding in a hilly area for instance. It'll be heavy uphill and you can't get more speed downhill by pedalling.

With that said, the fact that the pedals on a fixie always keep turning does require some skill to deal with. Getting the bike going can be a bit awkward and if you lean in a turn the pedals can strike the ground and cause you to crash.
My choice would be the single gear AKA single-speed. Maybe not quite as much a character, but more user friendly.
My boyfriend recently bought one of these for me. The company seems new but the product came exactly as advertised - Colorful, simple, design-centric, and affordable. I/he did a lot of research on cheap fixies and this company (based in los angeles) seemed the cheapest. So far, i love it and can confidently say, yes, it's a good fixed gear bicycle.
gear cycles are better than normal cycles because gear cycles are comfotable for riding as compared to normal cycles

The Helio Courier is a fixed gear aircraft; no retractable gear.
Depends. Bicycles with external gears have chain-and-sprocket gears. Bicycles with internally geared hubs have both a chain-and-sprocket gear and spur gears (usually in a planetary configuration) inside the rear hub. Then there are the rather rare shaft-drive bicycles, which use bevel gears. And maybe an internally geared hub as well. Then there's the occasional belt drive bike of course. And one or two CVT designs.
Yes. All bikes have at least one gear, some have quite a lot more.
..l..
Clocks and watches have internal gears. Bicycles and can openers have external gears.
Apparently velodromes are used for cycling races.
