In many ways, yes. RC Helicopters are designed to mimic real ones, and have many similarities. The shape in general is quite the same, and people are always trying to find new ways to make their RC Helicopter more realistic. Obviously, RC Helicopters are made differently on the inside, but there are still many similarities between RC Helicopters and real helicopters.
The first real helicopter flight was made by Hanna Reitsch in a Focke-Achgelis near Berlin around 1937. Consistent and accurate Allied bombing missions destroyed this helicopters production lines so it never got into real development.
