According to Square D, it accepts bolt-ons and plug-ins. I'm not much of a Square D guy, so I can't tell you for sure. Check the related link for the PDF containing this information.
The home type used to be a little less expensive, and they do not have the little red flag when the breaker trips, The qo has the little red flag, which is eaiser to see, which breaker is tripped when you open the panel door the little red flag you can see where with the home style you look for the breaker that is not completly on. To me it was a step backwards with the introduction of the home style breaker we have installed both panels and Q O I prefer. And the breakers are not interchanable from panel to panel

the standard or the square D will fit ,you just have to remove 4 little bits plastic and two little bits of metal the rest of the houseing and the rating is very close yes you can also put a torch to the main breaker and burn your whole house down. Legally, you must use the same brand breaker with the brand panel. They sell Murray breakers at your area electrical contractor shop, but used I am sure. However, square d homeline, siemens ite, GE, cutler hammer BR do fit but will void the UL listing and are dangerous to mix. Upgrade your panelboard. It is old.

Square D Homline breakers will fit in a GE panel but GE breakers will not fit into a Homeline panel in my experience. Square D QO is not compatible with either.

They didn't used to be, however, Square D now has a "homeline" line of circuit breakers which interchange with gould. They are available at Lowes, Home Depot and other hardware stores. Make sure you purchase the identical amperage Square D "homeline" breaker.
