Syria and Israel are in a de jure state of war, since the Syrian declaration of war with Israel in 1948 was never supplemented by a peace treaty. However, Syrian and Israeli forces have not engaged militarily since the Lebanese Civil War in the early 1980s.
Syria currently is engaged in a civil war and has more important things to worry about than Israel.
Israel took it from Syria your welcome

Palestine and Israel are fighting right now. They have been fighting for a few centuries.
Syria is considerably larger than Israel.
Israel is next to Syria and Jordan too.
Syria and Israel are not fighting for territory, and at the present time (May 2011), are not fighting at all. (The Syrian government has other, internal, things to worry about right now.) The last direct conflict between Israel and Syria took place in 1973, and the last time any territory passed from one to the other was in 1967. Israeli forces captured the Golan Heights from Syria in 1967. That area was of interest to Israel because it had become such a popular spot from which to launch rockets and artillery upon Israeli farms in the valley below. That kind of behavior has been drastically reduced since Syria was denied access to the Golan in 1967. During the Yom Kippur War in 1973, Israeli forces penetrated to within 40 km of Damascus (that's the capital of Syria), but took no additional territory. Syria has been content with supplying and supporting its surrogates in Lebanon since then, and neither Israel nor Syria has conducted any operations across their mutual border since 1973.
Yes, indeed. Israel is bordered by Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt
Damascus is the capital and largest city of Syria. Jerusalem is the capital city of Israel.
Israel is surround by Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria and Lebanon, Syria and Saudi Arabia are hostile
Syria and Israel theoretically share a border, but they are separated by the UNDOF forces which occupy a no-man's land between them. However, Syria and Israel both border Jordan and Lebanon. In the case of Lebanon, there is no land border with any nation other than Syria or Israel.
The Jordan River is the/a key water source to Israel, Lebanon and Syria.
It flows to Syria to Israel and Jordan
