well i currently ride a 16.2hh thoroughbred she is gorgeous, the obvious problem is that they are super super fast, hense the word thoroughbred, you can calm them down with the right patience and time.
No. They are know for their spirit and hyperness. I would not recommend them as a first horse.
Yes, they are normally very calm and quiet. But it all depends on the horse and rider.
it depends which horse you pick if it is good around people if you can ride it what styles of riding
It Depends On what Your Doing. Dressage , jumping , Cross Country, Eventing Ect. But Warmbloods,Thoughbreds, and Saddlebreds Are Good!
There is no certain breed of horse that would be ideal for a first time horse owner. The best type of horse a first time buyer should look for is one that has some experience, is tempermental and easy to control and handle.
no not really there are saddlebreds as dressage horses but that is not there best areaI think they are ok at it. I mean some have great gates for it. :)
Sometimes, it really depends on the horse and on the owner of the horse's opinion.
A prospect horse is a horse that someone would think would be good at. Like if someone bought a jumper prospect, the horse wouldn't have any experience, but the owner thought he would be good at it.
Always be safe. When getting a new horse, you have to spend time with it to understand its behavior. Depending on where you're getting the horse from, it would be a very good idea to ride the horse at its owner's house first. Ask a lot of questions. Make sure you know everything about the horse. If you don't have a saddle for the horse, make sure the owner before you tells you the size. The type of bit is important to. Hope I helped
They can. If it is a calm, quiet, well trained, preferably older saddlebred, they can make a great first horse. This goes for any breed. If it is calm, quiet, well trained and preferably older (because older is calmer) then any breed meeting those requirements can be a great first horse. What you don't want is a "hot", anxious, young green horse.
A claiming race means that a horse may be "claimed" by another owner/trainer for the stated claiming price for that race. The claim takes place before the race is run. The new owner must take possesion of the horse after the race is over. This prevents an owner/trainer from putting a realy good horse against lower quality horses. Nobody wants to get $5,000 for a horse worth $20,000.
Horses need to be groomed for several reasons. First it allows the owner to check the horse for injury and illness. It also allows the horse and owner to bond, and it stimulates the horses circulation and makes them feel good.
A good name for any horse is up to the owner. Name it something you like and can live with. Many horses have long show or registered names and then a shorter barn name.
