We should be - given that we are now dependent on a huge pipeline coming from Russia to supply us with mains gas ! That supply is vulnerable to failure for many reasons - and we should have a contingency plan in place as an alternative.
We should be prepared to sacrifice 'picture postcard' landscapes in favour of wind turbines. Sustainable power is more important than pretty scenery !
I'm not sure about the UK, but in 2007 there were about 100,000 birds killed by wind turbines
As of 11 January 2009, there are 269 operational wind farms in the UK, with 2,764 turbines and 4,070 MW of installed capacity
natural gases, nuclear generators, cogeneration, wind turbines, coal and oil. And their are lots of renewables(e.g. wind turbines, solar panels...) possible more overall
wind turbines,coal,etc
Scotland & Northern Ireland.
Britain has the largest offshore wind farm in the world, the 175-turbines of the London Array wind farm, off the Kentcoast.
there are advantages of building windfarms and there are disadvantages of building them. I have no time to improve this answer.
The UK is windier than some countries, and less sunny than others (especially in the middle of Winter like now!)
Both wind turbines and coal power stations come in different sizes, so there is no quick formula to convert one to the other.
As of 2021, there are over 6,000 wind turbines in Scotland, making it a leader in wind energy generation in the UK. The country has made significant investments in renewable energy, including wind power, to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and combat climate change.
Well, I am not sure about the state but I know that one of the Top 5 Countries to have the most wind turbines is UK. Has 186 wind farms holding 2,120 electrical producing wind turbines Can power over 1.5 million homes and saved up to 6 million tons of carbon i heard its California
There Aren't many disadvantages only the cement used for the base and the cost for building and transporting it.AnswerThere are very few advantages. Wind turbines are one of the most expensive forms of energy generation, made affordable only because of enormous subsidies which are then passed on to consumers as elevated energy bills. They only produce a fraction of their rated capacity for most of the time. Their energy output is completely unpredictable. In the case of the UK, none is made in the UK, so taxpayers money is used to employ foreign workers to manufacture them and to increase the profits of foreign companies. On the other hand, if you are a landowner (paid to have them on their land), or a wind turbine manufacturer, or a wind turbine worker, then wind turbines are wonderful!
