Veteran Affairs jobs are part of the federal system. Beginning in the 1920's Veteran Affairs were run by three different federal agencies. Responsibilities grew as the number of Veterans needing care grew. A huge range of medical centers, clinics, nursing homes and rehabilitive care for Veterans became the focus of Veteran Affairs and it's over-seeing federal agencies, and later the responsibilities of operating the National Cemetery System and State Cemetery Grants Program were added to their list of federal government jobs.
