Yes, Dobermann's and Doberman Pinscher's are the same breed. However, there are other types of Pinscher, including the Miniature Pinscher and the German Pinscher. There is only one type of Dobermann.

How do you trian Doberman to bite?

Under no circumstances should you train your Dobermann to bite. Not only is this hugely irresponsible, but should your Dog attack another Dog or human, your Dobermann could be euthanized. Raising Dogs to show aggression is never a good thing, no matter what. If you want your Dog to protect you or your home then in most cases no training is needed as Dobermanns have a natural instinct to protect their owners and territory. Training your Dobermann to bite or be aggressive would also not be very good for the breed's reputation, as Dobermanns are already the victims of much stereotype.

Is there a dog breed that looks like a beauceron and a personality of a Doberman pincher?

Dobermanns and Beaucerons were bred for different purposes, Dobermanns were bred to guard people and property, whereas Beaucerons were bred to herd and protect sheep. Beaucerons are a Pastoral breed and Dobermanns are in the Working Group. At first glance the two breeds may look similar; they are usually both black and tan with the same level of intelligence. However, Dobermanns have a much smoother, shorter coat and are usually docked. Beaucerons are not docked amd have rougher, longer coats. Some Beaucerons may also have a harlequin coat colouration, similar to that of some Great Danes. The two breeds may display some different behaviours, with the Beauceron much more eager to herd (like a Border Collie). Dobermanns are not a herding breed and are much more inclined to guard. They both grow to a similar size and weight. Beaucerons have a unique double dew claw on their hind legs which Dobermanns do not have. Beaucerons are also exceedingly rare, whereas Dobermanns are relatively popular as guards and pets.

Should a Doberman be keep in door or outdoors?

It depends on the climate. Dobermanns are quite happy to live in sheltered kennels or runs as long as they have some form of heating. Otherwise, Dobermanns have short, close-fitting coats that provide little warmth against bad weather. Therefore, unless you can provide a good quality, warm kennel or run, keep your Dobermann indoors.

What was the Doberman Pinscher first bred for?

Dobermanns are often known as Doberman Pinscher's in America because they were originally classed as Terriers (which is what ''Pinscher'' means in German). The name has now been changed in the UK and some other places to Dobermann as it was felt that as Dobermanns are not Terriers they should not be called Pinschers.

Are Rhodesian ridgebacks smarter and stronger than Doberman pinchers?

Not all dogs within one breed have the same level of intelligence. Some dogs will be smarter than others, it depends how willing the individual dog is to learn. As for strength, Rhodesian Ridgebacks were bred to hunt lions in the African Bush and so needed suffiient strength and agility to do so. Dobermanns are also very strong dogs, having been bred for protection. However, most Rhodesian Ridgebacks will be slightly stronger with more muscle mass than Dobermanns, although Dobermanns are very strong dogs. Dobermann is stronger and smarter

Is a Doberman or a German Shepherd better?

Both German Shepherds and Dobermanns have their strengths and weaknesses. German Shepherds are a Pastoral breed originally used for guarding flocks, hence the name 'Shepherd'. Dobermanns were bred to be guardians of people and property. Today, German Shepherds are used for guarding just as much as Dobermanns. German Shepherds are prone to hip and elbow dysplasia and Dobermanns are particularly vulnerable to heart disease. Both breeds have great working ability and stamina and are hardy enough to live outdoors (provided a kennel is used). German Shepherds are easier to acquire as they are more numerous, but a Dobermann can still be acquired via a private breeder.

How much are albino Dobermans worth?

Although they may look unique and unusual, albino Dobermanns are actually shunned in showing and are banned from most serious events. Many breeders of Dobermanns never mate albino Dobermanns as the resulting albino puppies will have a weakened immune system, impaired vision, deafness/impaired hearing and are particulary susceptible to sunburn and skin damage. For these reasons, albino Dobermanns are generally not sold for as much as normal Dobermanns.
