Everything is made of elements. But they are almost always impure. Pure elements tend to be dangerous or bad for the environment. For example, sodium metal reacts violently with water and is generally a threat to swallow, because as I said before it reacts with water. Chlorine gas is poisonous and can easily kill someone. Neither of those two elements are found pure, in nature. But together the two elements form the salt that we eat with our food (Sodium Chloride). Harmless and found in many parts of the world.
