Are brass instruments high or low pitch?

They can be both high and low pitch. There are brass instruments that are considered "high voices" like trumpets, there are brass instruments that are considered "middle voices" like french horns, and then there are brass instruments that are considered "low voices" like trombones, euphoniums, and tubas. All brass instruments have a pretty large range of pitches they can play depending on how good the player is, so the pitches can greatly vary.

Why is it necessary to tune wind instruments?

I think most or all instruments need tuning. Wind instruments need tuning because the sound can be sharp or flat. If you're playing in a band or ensemble, it sounds a lot better if all of the instruments are tuned. That way, the notes sound the same. If you have heard a note and its flat played together, it probably doesn't sound good. If one of the instruments is flat, that is what that part of the music will sound like. I play the clarinet, and we have to pull out at the barrel of the instrument if it is sharp to lengthen the instrument. If it is flat, we push the barrel in or tighten our embouchure to make the instrument shorter or fix the sound. I'm not sure if all instruments tune that way, but that's what I know. I hope this helps you. If you're playing a wind instrument, I hope you are successful! :)

What are the near relations to the main woodwind instruments?

Traditionally woodwind instruments were all made out of wood obviously! Oboes, clarinets, bassoons and cor anglais' are all still made out of wood but other instruments in the 'woodwind' family (flutes, saxophones, piccolos) are now made out of metal so are considered near relations to the 'main' woodwind instruments.

How are all brass instruments similar?

What is the difference between pitched and non pitched instruments?

The difference is that pitched instruments play notes, whereas non pitched instruments do not. Example, there are many non pitched percussion instruments, like snare drums, but drums such as timpani's actually play notes and can be adjusted, making them pitched. All woodwind brass and string instruments are considered pitched.
