I can currently only answer the question about baitracin zinc. It is related to penicillin in the sense that it has the same function. I am allergic to penicillin, so I usually am prescribed bacitracin zinc as a substitute.

YES they are related but they are distant cousins.. i am allergic to pennicillin but not to erythromycin. i have been on antibiotics serveral times so i am 100 percent sure of this.. i have had to have erythromycin before and they watched me in the emergency room to make sure i didnt have a reaction.. they are related but since they are only related close enough to be distant cousins they will often try people who are allergic to pennicillin on erythromycin. my aunt can not take either one but i am lucky enough to be able to take the erythromycin but with pennicillin i can not breath!
