The Bald Eagle(Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is a bird of prey found in North America that is most recognizable as the National Bird and symbol of the United States of America. This Sea Eagle has two known subspecies and forms a species Pair with the White tail Eagle. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the continquas United States and northern Mexico. It is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and outgrowth trees for nesting.

Bald eagles are not extinct, there are on the endangered list but are making a slow recovery.

Actually, bald eagles are not an endangered species anymore, being de-listed in 2007, after a great comeback.
