They are definitely some of the best little lizards around! These little guys are relatively cheap, they have a generally small size, they are easy to feed, and like to be handled! Mine will crawl right into my hand and I can put him on my shoulder or wherever he wishes.

I have a bearded dragon and he is my first ever lizard. I have had him for 3 days and I have not yet picked him up as I want him to get used to his new home and surroundings. However, I do watch him roam around his tank and he is very entertaining. I feed him small crickets everyday and I love to watch him chase them around the tank. He is a very lively bearded dragon and bobs his head up and down when he sees his reflection in the glass. I am glad I got a bearded dragon instead of all the other lizards I could of picked as he will eat out of your hand, climb up on you and happily sit on your shoulder and is just so friendly towards strangers which is what I wanted. I definitely recommend these guys if you are looking for a new pet!

Well it depends on what personality and what you are willing to do for it. Bearded dragons are usely calm but they can run pretty fast. They eat mostly bugs (Like crickets and meal worms nothing caught outside) And fruit (Never citrus) also some veggies (Never ever ice burg lettuce). Look up on what they can eat and what not to eat. Also you have to bathe them (Never with soap) You bathe them by running warm watter in a sink or bath tub with water that goes up to there shoulders Atlees. If you want (this is what i do) Give your beardie a shower. I do this with mine because he likes it better then baths. Bearded dragons are NOT for first time pets for kids. Ive had a few pets before i got my bearded dragon. (I got him when i was 11 now I'm 12) beadies will bond with there owner deeply and are great pets but boy i tell you there poo smells!

So yes there pretty easy to take care of once you get used to it and look up on how to take care of them before adopting one. I say yes they are great pets! Though once mine poos in his cage he ones out! (Then he runs all around the place also running in his poo) That's a nice way to wake up isn't it?

Lizards are - or can be, very tricky to take proper care of. An honest pet shop will usually steer otherwise approving parents from getting a bearded dragon for a child as a first pet. There is far too much information to absorb for the majority of kids.

NOOO!!! They are not harmless!!! I have one and my son Justin tried to pick it up and it bit him!!! My oldest son Zachary then picked it up and it bit him to!!! He was bleeding so I took him to the Doctor and they said that Breaded Dragons are not harmless and if they bit it can hurt so I had to get all my 5 boys Zachary,Tyler,Dylan,Justin and Nolan vaccinated just in case!!! I returned the Bearded Dragon and got 5 leopard geckos insted!!! Now i have 3 snakes and 8 geckos!!!

To the above contributor - PERHAPS it was the treatment the bearded dragon was getting that caused it to bite ! Most animals only bite if they feel threatened ! I have bred Bearded Dragons for MANY years and have NEVER been bitten !

The typical bearded dragon makes an excellent pet. They are easy to care for, and their poop is easy to clean. Feeding is once a day and should consist of vegetable and insect matter. A water dish is all that needs to be provided for drinking. The substrate should either be lizard carpet or a digestible sand (although I haven't found one that is actually digestible, but beware because many of them claim to be and your lizard can become impacted and die.) These substrates seldom need to be replaced. Bearded dragons need UVA and UVB lighting for heat, but turning lights on and off isn't hard to do. They also need some kind of rock or log to bask on, and a tunnel to hide/sleep under. As far a temperament, they are probably the best tempered reptiles I have ever worked with. They rarely bite, and enjoy handling (great for kids.) They are hardy lizards and don't try to run away (most of the time.) When they are first purchased, they can sometimes bite, hiss, or try to tun away, but daily exposure to their owner will change that within a few weeks and they will become docile. Overall, bearded dragons are well tempered and easy to take care of. I would say they are the best reptile you could possibly buy.

They wouldn't be allowed to be pets if they were not friendly. They are extremely tame and love human company, my bearded dragon snuggles up to me and falls asleep when i get him out. If he/she is allowed (like mine) to stroll around your floors and investigate, don't walk up to him/her when you are standing as you are very tall compared to him. Get on your knees and crawl toward him, that will keep him less stressed. If you do walk up to him while you are very tall, he will pounce away and become scared. Even If they did bite (which is VERY RARE) they don't have proper teeth and wouldn't hurt you. Even if he did hurt you, don't hurt him/her back if you are angry. :D

Can bearded dragons eat slug?

not really, if you did give your bearded dragon a slug it would probably get either very very ill or even die. I wouldn't advise giving bearded dragons slugs or anything that you catch infact as insects from the wild can carry disease, even if they are from your garden. Bearded Dragons are best cared for when they are given good live food bought from a pet store, such as locoust or crickets
