Yes a blob-fish is most definitely real!!! and they are pretty freaky looking.

There is concern that the habitats are being distroyed by the act of bottom trawling. Since the Blobfish have little muscle, they eat what swims by them and have a body like a jellyfish. Blobfish surely are interesting creatures.
