Best Answer

When breeding they are defenders of their area to protect their young and eggs and will chase off and/or kill any threat to them if they can. They are also hunters and will work together as a shoal/school to trap smaller fish to eat.

It depends on which kind of fish you are planning to place in the aquarium with the angelfish. For example, a fully grown and developed angelfish will eat a tetra, danio, or any other fish that is small enough to fit in a fully grown angelfish's mouth. Also, they may kill bettas by biting their fins, tearing them off, and making the bettas depressed and sick. From my personal experience, I would highly disencourage the keeping of angelfish with bettas, extremely small fish, and breeding pairs. Angelfish will willingly eat the babies/eggs of other fish, so I recommend that you are careful with your aquarium setup. Good luck, and I hope my answer helped!

Answer:

They can be. They're mostly aggressive when it comes to their territory.

Getting One:

If you're thinking on having more than one, then be sure to put them all together at the same time so they'll sort out their territory. They'll only get aggressive to other Blue Tangs or other similar-shaped fish. If you want to add another Blue Tang when the tank already have some, remember before you add it to the tank, rearrange the rocks or decor so the fish could relocate their space.

Negative Effect/Risk:

It would usually take about 3 days for Blue Tangs to get along. The more size, shape, and color difference, the faster the process will take. The biggest risk is that they might be very incompatible and might even kill each other.

Yes they eat other fish's fry, insects and insect larvae. But they are omnivores as well, so they also eat small debris throughout their environment. (More so than raw veggie matter)

Angelfish are relatively peacfull but you need to remember that they are a fairly large cichlid and they will hunt and eat small fish.
