Yes. As detritivorous scavengers, catfish eat the dead material that they find at the bottom. In their natural habitat, they eat other fish, worms, night crawlers, and about anything else that lives in the water. I use sections of raw hot dog as bait to successfully fish for catfish all over the American Southwest. Despite the fact that they are considered to be notkosher, long live National Catfish Day!
