Are computers made out of rocks?

Many of the materials used originated in rock:

• The silicon the chips are made with comes from silica sand.
• The aluminum comes from bauxite.
• The iron comes from hematite.
• The copper comes from malachite and other copper bearing rocks.
• etc.

But one could say much the same of most other things:

• Glass is made from sand.
• Phosphate fertilizer is from phosphate rock.
• Rock salt.
• Uranium for reactors and bombs is from pitchblende and other uranium and vanadium bearing rocks.
• etc.
