Are cows prey animals or predators?
Cows are prey animals.
It's all because of an ancient predator-prey relationship that is always at play, even at the domesticated level. Humans are predatory animals, cows are prey animals. Cows are killed for their meat because humans, being natural predators (though not in the same sense as wolves, wild and domestic cats, spiders, and many other predator/carnivorous species are), like to eat meat from cows, which we call beef.
Animals that are prey usually have feautures the predators don't-for example look at how fast gazelles can run, and how fish can swim away ect. But the prey is the predators diet so it is quite essential that the predator needs to eat the prey. So basically, without prey, predators wouldn't be able to survive. Hope this helped!
Are you asking which animals are predatory toward other animals? Which are predators? This question has a complicated answer. There are "top" predators like the big cats (tiger, lion, leopard, puma, etc.). They can prey on (hunt, kill, and eat) other animals which are considered their prey, but some of these prey animals (coyotes or hyenas, for example) might also be predators of smaller or weaker animals lower in the food chain, like deer, rabbits…
