The Crocodilae evolved from the anchient Crurotasi reptiles which 1st appeared in the Early Triassic. This lineage would evolve into true crocodilae around 200 million years ago at the very end of the triassic period.
The lineage that lead to dinosaurs was Ornithodira which broke away other Archosaurs around the Mid Triassic. These were later to evolve into dinosaurs in the late triassic some 230 million years ago.
