Confirmation, breeding and training have more to do with a good jumping horse than age, but most horses younger than 4 or older than 20 will not be among the better jumping horses.
Draft breeds are not especially ideal for jumping or anything like that although many are very good jumpers! Clydesdales are quite a good draft breed as they are still quite agile.
Most of the light horse breeds and ponies can jump. While the draft breeds are currently being used to cross breed and produce larger horses for jumping they are generally too large to hold up to jumping themselves.
Shire horses are not typically known for their jumping ability. They are a heavy draft breed that is better suited for pulling heavy loads rather than jumping obstacles. If you are looking for a horse for jumping, a breed such as a Thoroughbred or Warmblood would be more suitable.
