Elephants are herbivorous. But like most of the mammals they do clean up the placenta and amniotic membrane of their newborn.

For the last 15-20 years, researchers in Africa have been identifying sounds that are common in different groupings of elephants. This is proof that elephants do use their sound for communication, which is what most, (if not all), mammals use sound for.
The Wooly Mammoth is related to it but as you probely know, it's extint.
