David Hodges left Evanescence in 2002 primarily due to creative differences and a desire to pursue other musical projects. He felt that the band's direction was diverging from his artistic vision. Following his departure, Hodges went on to focus on songwriting and production, contributing to various artists and projects. His exit came shortly before the band’s rise to mainstream success with their debut album, "Fallen."
The new album - The Betrayed is due in sotres January 11th 2010 and as a digital release on January 10th

The original guitarists were Ben Moody (lead), who co-founded the band with lead singer Amy Lee, and John LeCompt (rhythm). Ben Moody left the band after the first album, "Fallen" in 2003, supposedly due to creative differences with Amy Lee. John LeCompt left (or was fired) after the second album, "Open Door" in 2007. Both these guitarists play for the band "We Are the Fallen", along with original Evanescence drummer, Rocky Gray. Amy Lee is the only remaining original member of Evanescence. The current lead guitarist for Evanescence is Terry Balsamo (former "Cold" guitarist). They currently don't have a second guitarist. Troy McLawhorn had been playing with them since the departure of John LeCompt, but he is reportedly not going to return, as he is now the lead guitarist for "Seether".
Right now, nowhere. He is due to release a new album sometime in 2013.
