The correct term is poikilothemic. It means "variable body temperature" as opposed to homeothermic which means "constant body temperature. Only mammals and birds are homeothermic (warm blooded). Every other type of animal is poikilothermic (cold blooded).

This means that they control their temperature via external means by taking advantage of the environment around them. This would include things like sunning on rocks to warm up, or shading themselves to cool down.
