Golden retrievers are great pets, but they need lots of exercise as they are big dogs. That means they wouldn't be a very good dog for people that don't have much time. That being said, people shouldn't get a pet unless they have the time to meet the needs of the animal. As for the children matter, golden retrievers are know for being very good with children. They make great pets for people who have kids.
