It makes it significantly more unhealthy. It is artificial coloring that is made by (quite literally) mashing up bugs and putting them in your food. Sure, the quantity is small, but it is very bad for you.

Harmful pathogens would die in the process of extracting the coloring as well.
The Cochineal insect produces carminic acid from which the deep red colouring Carmine is derived. The colouring is used for such things as artificial flowers, paints, rouge, yogurt, cosmetics, food additives, and crimson ink.
The coloring in the mix used to make Starbucks' Strawberries & Creme frappuccino contained ground insects. Specifically, ground cochineal beetles were used to give that distinctive pink hue. It was viewed as a more green alternative to using traditional food coloring. As of April 2012 though, Starbucks has stated that no later than the end of June it will begin using lycopene (a tomato based extract) food coloring in its drinks after the news of the insect laden drink caused an uproar in the vegan and vegetarian community.
